Hi,
I just recently started watching the 3 Stooges again. My Bro and I used to watch them every Saturday and Sunday a.m. when we were kids. Now I'm netflixing all these episodes that I hadn't seen in so long. It's been great!
I definitely love Curly the best. Moe and Larry also have many moments but I was watching a few Shemp episodes and it's sometimes hard to get into. He too has his great moments.
I would like to know what others' thoughts are on that.
Thanks,
Liz

No, seriously, I love Shemp, but Curly is a force of nature.

Re: Curly or Shemp?
Wed, May 24, 2006 - 12:30 PMIt's too tough to pick one over the other (so I won't). They each
bring their own unique strengths into the mix.
My favorite Curly episode (today...) is probably "Disorder in the Court".

The whole "swearing in" bit is truly classic.
My favorite Shemp episode (today...) is probably "Brideless Groom".

Shemp: "There I am! Pretty as a picture!"
Moe: "..of an ape."

Wed, May 24, 2006 - 5:34 PMOr Joe Besser who was a funny comedian in his own right, but didn't get the Stooges. -

Re: Curly or Shemp?
Thu, May 25, 2006 - 8:56 AMCurly is definitely my favorite, but I love Shemp also. I don't mind Joe Derita, but I can't stand Joe Besser. If I remember correctly, when Joe Besser joined the Stooges he had them put in his contract that he couldn't get slapped in the face. How can you be a Stooge when you don't get a good slap to the face? -

Thu, May 25, 2006 - 9:07 AMWow I didn't know that about joe besser. now i want to watch some of those episodes and see what kind of slapping he received.
I also like "Violent is the Word for Curly" and "Wee Wee Monsieur" along w/ those others.

Re: Curly or Shemp?
Thu, May 25, 2006 - 1:32 PMFor some reason I had always heard that it was Curly Joe Derita who hated being slapped. I'm not an authority by any means, though.

Re: Curly or Shemp?
Fri, July 7, 2006 - 6:06 PMCurly all the way. Anyone notice that it was spelled 'CurlEy' for a little while?
Another interesting bit is that after Shemp passed away, the next two '3rd Stooges' were patterened off of Curly more than Shemp, or going off in other directions (There was never a 'Shemp-Joe'). -

Re: Curly or Shemp?
Sun, July 9, 2006 - 11:37 PMCurly, no contest. My favorite short (don't remember the name), involved Curly fighting with an oyster that keeps spitting at him from inside Curly's bowl of stew. Cracks me up just thinking about it...
